NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (NEET)

  • Eligibility Criteria:

    Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 17 years, and the maximum age limit is 25 years (30 years for reserved categories).

  • Academic Qualification

    Candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as mandatory subjects.

  • Subjects

    NEET Examination covers the topics in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and the marks are distributed among these subjects.

Exam Mode

  • Mode: NEET is conducted in pen-and-paper (offline) mode.
  • Duration: The examination has a duration of 3 hours.
  • Number of Questions: There are a total of 180 multiple-choice questions.
  • Subjects and Marks Distribution: The exam includes questions from Physics (45 questions), Chemistry (45 questions), Botany (45 questions), and Zoology (45 questions). Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Syllabus: The NEET syllabus is based on the topics covered in the 11th and 12th standards of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

Application Process

  • The NEET application process is usually conducted online.
  • Candidates need to register on the official NEET website and fill out the application form with accurate personal and academic details.
  • They also need to upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature, and other required documents.
  • A fee is applicable for the application, which can be paid online or through a bank challan.

Admit Card

  • Once the application process is completed, the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the NEET admit card on the official website.
  • Candidates can download and print their admit cards, which contain important details such as the exam center, date, time, and candidate information.

Results & Counselling

  • The NEET result is usually declared within a few weeks of the examination.
  • Candidates can check their results on the official NEET website by entering their roll number and other required details.
  • Based on the NEET scores, candidates become eligible for counseling conducted by various state counseling authorities and the All India Quota (AIQ) counseling conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • During counseling, candidates can choose and lock their preferences for medical/dental colleges and courses.
